Sam is an experienced brand and marketing specialist who uses design strategy and detailed analysis to craft innovative business growth strategies. Sam’s strategies have consistently produced dramatic, measurable business results for his clients.

Sam believes design is central to business, affecting not only customer perceptions and brand experiences, but also possessing the power to craft organizational cultures, align departments, produce efficiencies, eliminate wasted money and energy, and chart dynamic futures.

Sam’s specialties are design thinking; brand strategy, positioning, and development; marketing communications.

Sam was the Director of Marketing for Shaw Hospitality Group and the Director of Retail Markets for Shaw Contract Group for the past three years. While at Shaw, Sam doubled the revenue of the hospitality and retail businesses. For Shaw Hospitality Group, Sam introduced new product categories, redesigned the customer service model, redesigned the custom design process, repositioned the brand, and increased sales by over 230%, profitability by 30%, and web traffic by 350%.

Before joining Shaw, Sam was a principal at Gensler, the world’s leading design firm. For five years, Sam was the Southeast regional leader of Gensler’s Brand Design practice; in this role, Sam’s clients included Herman Miller/Geiger, Armstrong World Industries, the World Bank, Dickstein Shapiro, the City of Arlington, Virginia, and Family Health International. After moving to Atlanta, Sam focused on retail and hospitality where his clients included The Coca-Cola Company, Starbucks, Porsche Cars North America, Aflac, Bank of America, Toyota Motor Sales, and General Motors.

Sam holds a Masters Degree in Philosophy from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and an Undergraduate Degree in Philosophy from Syracuse University.
